The Real M

I took along my short trip to Vegas my MacBook Pro and the raw files from the Shooting Goodbye session and I’d say that Vegas is not a place to stay in the hotel and edit… 😀

After some fun, and a long and hard labor week end (Wedding Fair) I decided that I had to spend some time to do some edits (after playing a little bit with the kids, of course).

The credits for the make up go to Bindi Kelly (make up for Ali and the boys, Ben & Nigel) and Kate Wal (make up for Stefania Kightley & Stephanie Dontadd) along with the talents of the models.

Special thank to Ali once again for bringing along the lovely Mr. Speck. I really hope you’ll enjoy Sydney and looking forward to catching up with you very often.

Stick around as more images from Vegas and the wedding fair are coming very soon.

PS: The shoot took place at the Hotel Realm (thanks Ben) and I though it’d be cool to name it “The Real M” as it follows the Project M series that I’ve been shooting recently.

Shooting Goodbye

Last Thursday shoot was a particular one as I “shot” one of my models, and friend, Ali Bromley just before she leaves to Sydney.

The shoot was particular in the way that it was planned in a very short time and we kept changing the theme all the time. I may say that arriving on set, I even didn’t know what exactly I was going to create.

The location was once again provided by the handsome Ben Appleton, we shot in the Penthouse of the Hotel Realm, in Barton, Canberra.

I wanted to play with colours and shooting a low key fashion session so I just brought a few small flash guns and mainly prime lenses.

The session was shot with a Canon 1D Mark IV along with the Canon EF 24 f/1.4 L II, 24 mm f/3.5 TSE L II, 50 f/1.2 L and 85 f/1.2 L II. One zoom lens was in the bag, the EF 16-35 f/2.8 L II.

Ali was wearing the make up by Bindi Kelly.

Other models on the set were Stefania Kightley and Stephanie Dontadd.

The make up for both models was by Kate Wal.

I also had the services of two male models, Nigel Hawkins and of course Ben Appleton (both make up by Bindi Kelly).

There was a special guest: Mr Speck the green python (coming along with Ali) and an unexpected and handsome guest Robert Boseski, Steffie’s boyfriend.

We had fun. More to come.

Winter Shoots

Winter is quiet period for wedding here in Canberra, every year I get to shoot a destination wedding to get away from the cold, so did I for Ondine and Eddy’s wedding last months.
Also along the exciting assignment to shoot Scotty and Nige’ Rock Band, Lane One Form, I did a few modeling shoots.
Too busy with the edits and planning for other shoots, I though I should take some time to post something on my blog to keep my readers, you, in the loop with some of my recent works.
Tomorrow will be the biggest fashion shoot I ever set up.
It would involve heaps of talents and local businesses.
Special thank to Rob of Performance Wedding Car for letting us shoot in his brand new mega studio, The white room.
Also mega thanks to Sandi of Tan This, in the Canberra Centre, to join the project providing spray tan for all the models.
It’s gonna be massive, it’s gonna be the biggest stdio fashion in Canberra that I know of. Stay tuned.
In the mean time, some of my recent works.

Meredith on Sunday

Quick post between two edits for fashion and wedding shoots.

Following the bridal shoot on Saturday with Sophie and Nina, I headed out on a cold Sunday to shoot Meredith.

It was a last minute organised shoot and I had invited a friend photographer, Robert Coppa, to have some fun.

Kirsten Pawlicki was the Make Up Artist in charge and we had some outfits designed by some local talents to play with:

Dress designed by Jenifer Apps

Costumes by Christine Pawlicki and Racheal Designs for the pink, french cancan and Lady Gaga red outfit.

Also included are a few images of the BTS (behind the scene) shot by Robert Coppa and myself.

We used a Canon 5D Mark II, Canon 1D Mark IV and a Nikon D3s.

Catching up with my blog, I know I’ve been naughty for not keeping the Blog up to date. The main reason is not the lack of time, it’s the second reason actually, but it’s because of too many photos to edit and post here.

From the last post, Colors of Autumn, I set up a shoot in 3 days and invited a groups of local talents in the fashion industry. It was a shoot in the Project M series and I gave it the shoot name of “M Tagged”.

The idea was to shoot a number of models, chic and classy in front of graffiti walls.

The location has been chosen and everybody was excited about the idea, except for the weather as we had the most rainy day of autumn in quite a few years and of course it was freezing cold.

Although it was under cover (underpass) the girls started trembling of cold before we even started doing the lake up.

We had then the choice of braving the cold, making the girls suffer…, or pack and go home.

Kitsa, one of the beautiful models, just spent 2 hours to sit for a make up and hair session with Dave so packing and go hoem was not too much of an option, at least for her and me. I had to shoot her.

Lucky enough, as mention earlier that I invited some local talents, Ben, one of the guest photographers, offered to save the session with some exotic locations: The Hotel Realm.

For those that are not from the region, the Hotel Realm is one of the most exotic in town and also is one that offers lots of glamorous and luxurious backdrops. I actually shot the cover for the 2010 edition of the “Your Local Wedding Guide” Magazine at this place.

Changing of location and concept introduced some interesting challenges that we had fun dealing with.

I packed a Nikon D3s, Canon 1D Mark IV and Canon 5D Mark II for the shoot, with some off camera flash gears, including radio poppers, but ended using only Canon gears for the indoor shoot.

Big thanks to the make up artists, Dave for the make up of Kitsa and Jolina for the make up of, Alexis, Ana, Anne, Emma and Melissa.

It was our first collaboration and Jolina did a really awesome job.

If you need a make up artist for any kind of event, find out Jolina’s details by scrolling to the bottom of this blog.

Of course a special thank to guest photographer, Ben Appleton, for the fall back (awesome) location.

Enough talking, let’s see some photos.
